CoolinAustin’s Summer Kickoff Party — This Friday!
Help us get the summer started off right this Friday, May 9, at Upstairs on Trinity, a swanky little nook perched inconspicuously atop Chicago House. It’s been a hot minute since the last CoolinAustin shindig, and we’re hoping to pick up where we left off right out of the gate. Upstairs is hooking up free drink tickets for the first 30 people in the door, so make sure to swing by when things get goin’ around 8 and then stick around for a DJ set by Young James and drink specials til midnight. And there’s no cover! So bring your crew, grab a table, and have some cocktails with us.
CoolinAustin’s Summer Kickoff Party — This Friday!
The Week in Cool: Free Week 2013 Edition
The first few weeks of the new year are jam-packed with chances to see some of Austin’s best musicians performing together, all for free. We’re doing our part to keep that spirit alive in 2013 by co-hosting a show with our friends at Austin Writes Music on Friday, Jan. 4, at Swan Dive on Red River. The lineup features local powerhouses The Baker Family, The Couch, and Your Friendly Ghost, as well as The Collection, an orchestral folk group out of North Carolina. The show is totally free and will include a silent auction benefiting The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, with items from the Alamo Drafthouse and Austin photographers Pooneh Ghana and Katherine Squier. This is guaranteed to be the best possible way to celebrate the first Friday of 2013, so come on out and bring your pals!
Oh, and there are plenty of other cool things worth checking out in the days ahead. Here are a few highlights of the shows we’d recommend — including set times where available — for anyone who wants to live Free Week(s) to the fullest. We’ll have even more highlights for you in Part 2 next week.
