SXSW RSVP Roundup 2012: Free Drinks Edition

If you’re planning to head to SXSW 2012, you’ve probably spent the last few weeks getting bombarded with party info. How do you sort it all out? In our opinion, the best place to get started is by RSVPing for the open bar parties. It’s hard to go wrong with free booze.

To help you prepare, we’ve put together a list of the 31 best open bars that have been announced thus far. All of the events below are open to the badgeless and wristbandless, and all of them require you to RSVP. As a bonus, at the bottom of this post, we’ve also thrown in a few other cool events that require an RSVP but aren’t advertising open bars, because hey, you gotta catch your breath sometime. We will post even more useful info in the coming days — including the elusive Fader Fort and Pure Volume invites when they become available — so keep checking back.

Pro tips:
1) RSVP for everything, even if you think you won’t go. It’s good to have flexibility.
2) We think these parties will be awesome, but we can’t guarantee that they will deliver on everything they promise in the invite. Show up early to increase your chances of getting the good stuff and to avoid having to stand in line forever. Have backup options in case your first choice is already at capacity.
3) If you’d like a more comprehensive list of RSVPs, we recommend signing up for SXShhh.com — for $5 you get access to a very slick database of 400+ parties and the ability to keep track of everything you’ve RSVP’d for.

Good luck out there!

SXSW RSVP Roundup: RSVPs for Wednesday, March 17

Ahhh, the first day of SXSW Music. To some, this is the first “real” day of SXSW. But from the geeks at Interactive and the fanboys of Film to those who just enjoy drinking free beverages, this day is just the midpoint in nine nonstop days of partying. No matter what crowd you’re in, SXSW Wednesday—also St. Patrick’s Day this year—signifies the beginning of a wave of parties that require you to RSVP in advance.

To that end, we want to hook you up with a list of events that you should sign up for—TODAY—if you want to mingle with the who’s-who of weeknight drinkers. (This is the first post in a series that’ll take you thru the list of RSVPs each day of the fest). Note that these are the OFFICIAL links to the RSVP forms. Some of you might think, “Hey, I already clicked ‘Attending’ on Facebook. Isn’t that enough?’” No. In most cases, it isn’t. Click these links for the real deal. Some of you might think, “Pshh. I’m real cool and RSVP’d for everything like 4 months ago.” First of all, shut yo mouth. Then, just use this handy list to make sure you got signed up for errrrrything. Don’t get left out!

This list doesn’t have the lowdown on the freebies or band lineups; those will come the day of the events, once you’re safely on the guest list. Right? RIGHT? No telling when these lists will be closed, so get to it!
